Reports indicate that up to 20% of news-related videos on TikTok are either false or misleading.
Moreover, TikTok’s addictive algorithm, designed to keep users on the app for as long as possible, has been likened to “digital cocaine,” raising concerns about its impact on mental health, especially among young users.

In response to growing concerns, Western governments seek to regulate TikTok. In Europe, the Digital Services Act (DSA) will come into effect in February 2024, imposing strict rules on major digital platforms.
TikTok has responded by launching initiatives like Project Clover, aiming to store European user data in European centers. However, these proposals haven’t completely allayed concerns, leaving doubts about potential Chinese government access to this data.
